WORLD POLIO DAY (24 October 2020)

After more than 35 years of dedication, Rotarians have provided over 9 billion polio vaccines in the pursuit of one of Rotary’s priority goals: global eradication of polio. Only two countries remain: Afghanistan and Pakistan.

At the end of August 2020, the World Health Organization officially reported that no new cases of polio had been recorded in Africa in four years. Africa was able to halt the spread of this horrific disease, which used to afflict more than 75 000 children a year just two decades ago.
