Nawinda mission
Nawinda is a new mission, established in 2014. It comprises hundreds of remote villages that are hundreds of kilometres, i.e. several hours, away by car. There is no electricity, plumbing, telecommunications or internet in Nawinda… Luckily, Nawinda has a state-run primary and secondary school, which makes it possible for children from distant villages to receive an education. The nearest “centre” where you can buy something is Sichili, which is almost a three-hour drive from Nawinda. I spent twenty days in Nawinda. During that time, I visited villages – mission stations – and I stayed for two days in each station with my companions, where I celebrated mass and performed christening and marriage ceremonies.
