Mboma village and its surroundings

I visited a village (with about 15 families) an hour’s walk from Mboma (from Livingstone to Mboma it’s a 13-hour drive), where I found an old lady born in 1910. I asked her and her family members how old she was several times (for You), and everyone confirmed she was 109. She has been eating white polenta all her life. When I asked her if anything had changed since her youth, she replied, “Not much”. She is in good spirits, despite the fact that her vision isn’t what it used to be.

The man in the pink shirt is 78 years old, the man in the grey shirt is 65, and the little cutie in my arms is only 12 days old. People in these villages have a life expectancy of 55-60 years.
